winter dessert

Today we had people over for lunch after church and I decided to quickly throw a dessert into the oven so that we could have a nice winter warming dessert. It has been a bit cold this week and so a steaming hot pudding seemed a great idea. As usual I made something I had never made before and hoped for the best. It was delicious and very easy too. This is what I did.

  •      2 Tbsp butter or margarine
  •      1 cup sugar
  •      2 eggs
  •      2-3 Tbsp honey
  •      2 cups self raising flour
  •      1 cup milk

Cream butter and sugar – add eggs beating well. Add honey and mix. Add flour and milk alternately till it looks like cake mixture. Pour into large baking dish and bake at 180 degrees till it is firm to the touch. Remove from oven and pour over this sauce.

  •       1 and a half cups of cream
  •       100 grams of margarine
  •       100ml water
  •       1/2 cup sugar
  • Slowly heat mixture on stove until margarine has melted. Remove and pour over hot cake as it comes out of the oven. Leave for a few minutes then serve hot with cream or ice cream. For a variation add some tinned peaches or apple to the cake mix.
  • Sorry I have no photos of this dessert but it was a hit with everyone.
