Lake Lysterfield

Today we went to Lake Lysterfield which is only 10 minutes from our house – we were hoping to see some kangaroos as the kids haven’t seen any since we have been here. Lake Lysterfield is a lovely lake with forest and bush around it and you are able to swim and cycle there. It also has amazing picnic areas.

We went for a walk across the dam wall and before long came across a whole family of kangaroos. I have no idea what you call a group of kangaroos (maybe embejo can help me here!!) but it was very exciting for us all. We behaved like typical tourists and stalked them as close as we could to get some photos. They seemed unperturbed with us being there and stared at us in fascination. We even got to see them hopping through the bush. Just when we thought they were sick of us and we moved on, two of them came hopping out onto the path and followed us a little way before hopping back to their family. It was very exciting for us all. Now hopefully we will see a koala next.

Then we had a picnic lunch and enjoyed watching the birds.

Then Hubby and the kids spent the rest of their time trying to catch tadpoles in the water.

    Lovely pics šŸ™‚
Haha I’ve never thought about that one….but I’d call them a “mob” haha but that could just be an Australianism, and not the real deal.

(Your posts make me miss Australia something terrible šŸ˜¦ and it’s been 10 years! )

Sorry, don’t mean to make you miss Oz, but at the same time see why you do – it’s never easy to leave a place you love.

Thanks Jodi – very different to your pics – but then I keep remembering that dream you had and so maybe one day we shall connect again. Hope David is feeling better – you are in our prayers.
